Benefactor ladies grab 2nd Goharshad Int’l Award

The 2nd Goharshad International Award granted to 8 benefactor Muslim ladies.

Prizes of the 2nd edition of the Goharshad International Award have been granted to eight benefactor Muslim ladies from across the world.

Quds auditorium of the Razavi Holy Shrine's Central Library in the holy Iranian city of Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, hosted the award ceremony on August 1.

Mehri Yazdani, Zahra Gitinejad, Farangis Anbari-Yazdi, and Behjat Afraz from Iran received the awards, respectively, in the fields of sacrifice & martyrdom; management & construction; charity & culture; and management & entrepreneurship.

Basirat Nahibi from Nigeria, Ferdows Yassin-Mousavi from Iraq, Robab Ali-Dashti from Kuwait, and Zhiganshina Naela-Cosmonova from Russia were winners of international awards, respectively, in the fields of management and entrepreneurship; education, research and development; construction; and culture.

The award seeks to appreciate prudent and generous contributor women who are devoted to Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam.

It pivots on a range of different subjects, including sacrifice and martyrdom, resistance and Islamic awareness, devotion and charity affairs, construction, medical and training affairs, scientific, research, art and cultural activities.

The women who received the awards are active in different public-service sectors, including development, health, education, research, science, culture, art and management.

Goharshad (1387–1457), was the wife of Shahrokh, the emperor of the Timurid Empire of Herat. She was an example of benevolent women, who made much endeavors to promote the religion and Shia teachings.

Goharshad Mosque in the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) is a symbol of this pious woman’s generosity and her loyalty to the infallible Imams of Muslims.
